harold has 'semi-retired'.

last spring, harold told me he had sold the shop to a neighbor.

i didn't put much stock in that as i had heard the wind blow before.

last night, the wife and i headed into carrollton and lo and behold...harold's driveway was blocked off  with a sign that said, "closed...move to...".

two houses further up the hill (towards carrollton, same side of the road) was a new neon sign and a place called "the gun shop".

i'll stop in tonight. i heard ol' harold is working the counter and helping the new owner get going.

i'm gonna miss that old shop of harold's. drinking beer and chivas out under the shade tree, sitting at the picnic table and bs'ing.

I do enjoy the time i spend with harold and the gang down there. warm fall afternoons spent watching the deer come in for tag checking...getting to shoot the latest gun or calibre on the market.

i hope the new shop has the same 'atmosphere'.

yeah...it'a all good. harold has earned his rest...and a shot of chivas to keep the chill out of the evening air.

i worked the fenceline tonight, but after the gunshow tomorrow i will drop in and see if i see any trends towards stocking the black rifles!

the building that now houses the gun shop is a converted garage or summer house. as i drove by i noticed security bars in the windows, but i didn't get a look at the entrance. it's stained a dark brown and i didn't get a good look at it in the fading half-light of dusk.

it looks to be twice the size of harold's old place, if you counted the square footage harold had in the back room and in the basement next door.

i'll head over there this afternoon and see what it's like.
