PS  I'd be looking for a sub-$300 AK variant, preferring something that was made for highcaps (i.e., not a WASR or the like).  This would just be a blastin' trunk gun rifle, so I'd be trying to make it as inexpensive a possible.

IIRC, ORF has some remade WASRs that have some extra goodies ('74 brake, new finish, etc) for about $350.

Some here, like TravisAasen, have one.  Pics of their conversions are in the link.

If you are looking for a $300ish high cap AK(and are not comfortable with a WASR conversion-athough you know ORF makes sure theirs are "right" before they sell them), then you are looking at a used SAR or MAK 90.
