Buddy was over looking at my gun with the ultimak and red-dot and asked an interesting question.

"How much you have in that gun now"

Started calculating it and I have way to much!

$350 - initial gun purchase
$~60 - choate dragunov stock
$~25 - ak74 pin on brake
$50 - tactical case
$100 - ultimak mount
$100 - bushnell red-dot
$30 - 3 30 rounders
$65 - tapco G2 trigger group, tapco gas piston, tapco follower
$6 - really badass sling from wally world.

Total - $786

I know that is about the base price for a decent ar15 but its crazy. I don't feel really bad about spending the money because I have had 3 different $1k paintball guns.

I just hope (well I know I'm not) I am not the only one with such obsessions. I just can't get something without modifing it! You should see my poor camaro!

Used SAR-1 with two 40 round mags and about 800 rounds wolf for about $250, Bulgarian handguards $20, Folding stock $30 along with a cetme leather sling $3, four 40 round mags $40 and a saw grip $10 with my Tapco discount. Total about $353 Being able to sleep at night priceless

One rule I set for myself: never add up the cost!

I've got over two dozen firearms, and tons of related equipment. Total cost? I don't even want to know! What always makes me feel better is the thought that it is probably the same or less than owning a boat!

Welding up of Vepr rear end, engraving, general machining time, rivet, park, paint: T.B.D. but probably $500 worth

$3125 and the damn thing ain't even completed yet...

+1 except that I have a Kobra on it, so I saved about $100 (and I'm not including the cost of the 40 or so AK-74 mags of various types I have).

The good thing was that I actually traded an AR I had $450 in for the AK, and the AK also came with a 100 round chinese drum, about 20 other AK mags and a couple hundred rounds of ammo (most of the mags were loaded). So I might actually have a little less in it.
