Awesome!  I have a 'post-ban' Polytech that I replaced the FCG and furniture so I could put a pistol grip on it.  Sept. 13th I dremmeled the nut off and screwed on a 74-style muzzlebrake.  Been very busy lately but got out today to try it out.

I fired first without any muzzle device, then with a screwed on slant brake and then with the 74-style brake.  I was very pleasantly surprised at how much it reduced the recoil.  I didn't notice any significant difference in muzzle-climb with the slant brake.

Anyone notice a big difference with a slant brake??

This is MHO, but the advantage that you receive from the 74 style brake is not worth the increase in the noise that the shooter receives.  All small bore brakes (30.06 calibers and below) should be melted down into steel core bullets and then fired somewhere in Iraq at some anti US asshole.  Brakes, for the mostpart IMHO, suck ass.

Try a pair of earplugs guy.  The '74 brake shouldn't direct any gases back at you.

twistedcomrade,

I didn't notice any difference is noise level from the naked muzzle, slant or 74-style brake.  I wear ear plugs always, and I also usually wear a pair of muffs over them, but not today.

What do you guys think about the Krink style brake on a SAR1? Will is make as much a difference as the 74?

The brake on a Krink is mostly designed to increase gas pressure to cycle the action with the very short barrel.

I didn't notice much recoil reduction, but the damn thing didn't cycle for crap with it off . . .

Well I like the way the krink brake looks but I am looking for something that will make a difference. So far I hear that the AK 74 is the best for that... But I still think the Krink looks best
