Last month I went out shooting the mak-90 and tried to shoot 675 rounds as fast as I could and my handguards lit on fire around 650 rounds and I threw it in a creek and now my barrel is crooked.

if only you had managed to cook 1000+ rounds prior to ruining the pipe, we would have bronzed your earplugs and inducted you into gun nutz hall of fame.

as is, you WILL receive a plaque with the screen name, your accomplishment and your post engraved on it placed in our ak hall of  "let that sucker melt!".



global trades might be able to swap a new chinese pipe into your mak. as a guess, i would say $150-175 to do the deed 'if' they have a spare bbl. in the joint. you might want to talk to aa-ok and kengs to try and score a spare bbl.

if i were you, i would re-enact your event, get a friend to do video and still pics and make a display case for this now famous mak90 to retire into!


or just filch the internet pic of the ak laying in the mud puddle at knob creek and claim it as your own.

hurt? nah! you might even be able to cold set (straighten) the bbl. i would be concerned about it taking a heat set, again, if not stress relieved...but, hey! it is 'just' an ak!

i heard of a guy that drove a truck over two cased rifles and bent both bbls. a local smith straightened them and the guy still has them in his collection.

Find out any bbl dia/trunion match issues before you go bbl shopping. A $130 AMD63 kit just for the chrome-lined 16" bbl and trunion may be best.
