Probably China, but I don't believe they were something every issued. Definately not on any WARSAW Pact AKM's.

I think they are one of the older American-made aftermarket AK parts. Someone appearently thought the AK wasn't evil enough looking or something.

i have seen chinese and american steel upper handguards...er...perhaps it would be better to call them "finger burners".

Sure... that metal handguard looks evil. But how evil does it look, when you have to wear an oven mit to hold it......
