Todd and I were talking today about what we can do now the AWB has finally died. The subject turned to AK pistols. We are thinking of using 5.45 Krink kits. We can do the other calibers, too, but thought recoil would be much less with 5.45. Anyway, we were wanting to know if there would be any interest. Price would be about the same as Krinks, $995.00 or so. Let us know what you think in this thread. I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks guys,

Mike

That would be sweet!

I don't know if I could drop a grand on one, but it would be the shit!

Any chance of regular Krink prices with folding stocks going down at all?

Well you can get an AKS-74U kit from k-var for $400 with the 8in krink bbl and then buy an OOW rec.  Maybe $700 is more reasonable?  Urban-Armory is making some of these too.

Have you figured out if the foreign parts count limit applies.  The law only refers to shotguns and rifles.  It is silent on pistols.  How do you read 922r?

Anyone interested in Krink pistols?

I would be ineterested, depending when they would be done, I could come up with the cash late december or january, the later the better.  I would definitely buy one if  you had a lay away plan.
since the awb ended I've spent about 2,500 buckaroos.

I would want one in 7.62 since I already have about 3k rounds and 12 mags

What kind of receivers would these be on, I prefer milled?

I'd be interested.

I would definitely be interested, but the SEAK takes up all my AK money for a while. I gotta get around to ordering one.

ME223.....I'll take one in 5.45 please. I'll have something to play with while I'm waiting on my SBR. Please let me know.

I'll bump this because I'm starting to come around to the idea of a Krink pistol.

That would be way too cool.

What would the difference be between a Krink SBR and Krink "pistol" ?
Link Posted: 9/23/2004 7:07:55 AM EDT
[#15]
the buttstock would not be there. Thats the physical difference. Another question on this subject- would a forward pistol grip be allowed on a krink pistol?

I've read other threads that say that a verical grip on a pistol would make it an AOW.

But dont you hold a pistol with two hands anyway? So wouldnt you want something to give you better CONTROL over the firearm? I dont get the paranoia with pistol grips sometimes, I really dont. Ooooh, an extra pistol grip, that makes it MORE eeeevil. Besides, its called a pistol grip, so if the goddamn weapon is qualified as a "pistol", then whats it going to matter how many "pistol" grips you put on it??!! Why would any fucking liberal for that matter want someone with a firearm to have less control of it? Afterall, they support gun "control" dont they?

This whole issue makes me just tumble right back through every damn thing about gun control that gives me migrains.

Noo sir, we cant have collapsible stocks and short barrels, thats too dangerous, but we can carry handguns that have NO buttstocks and are far shorter than rifles. WTF ever.  Im sorry for the rant. Im just a bit irritated lately about SBR rules. I think theyre a joke and handguns are the biggest example of why they're a joke.

Its sad but true, put a forward vertical grip on that pistol and it becomes an NFA weapon.

Seems like a crazy idea...I cant picture a krink without a buttstock ;)

Might be cool tho...

I'm curious as to the muzzle speed on a 74 pistol.

I'm interested though.

Okay guys, got an IM to try and explain the differences. Here goes:

Krink with pistol grip, handgaurds, no stock, no forward grip = perfectly legal AK pistol, no special paperwork.

Krink with barrel less than 16", stock, fixed either folded or open, = SBR, $200 tax stamp

Krink with no stock, forward grip = AOW, $5.00 tax stamp

Still need the 6 US parts. Probably use fire control group(3), receiver(1), p. grip(1) and gas piston(1), for a total of 6. Hope this helps,

Mike

Mike, does the "AOW" status require the Chief LEO sign-off like class III stuff?

Mike

I'd be interested in a Krink pistol in 5.45. I assembled two OA93 pistols last week. The krink pistol would need a rear trunion set up for a single point sling mount(a solid one).I'd like to see them closer to $800

Remember, according to the liberals, when you have a gun in your hand, you do not control it, it controls you and makes you do evil things!

I'd like to have some real military 5.45. Please, Todd, skip the 5.45. thanks,

Yeah, please skip the 5.45.  At least till some of us get the chance to stock up on some 5.45 ammo.  I can't hardly find any for sale right now.

Thats understandable. I dont want a krink pistol THAT BAD. Id much rather be able to stock up on 5.45 as well.

When you say no forward grip does that mean no vertical forward grip or no standard AK type forward grip?  Whenever I see AOW pictures it seems they have vertical foregrips.  Like would an SP89 with MP5 front end be AOW?

Why?

If you're going to do that just go buy a browning buckmark in .22 or a ruger Mark II.

.223 is a velocity dependant round.  5.45 would be ideal but lets not fuck ourselves over yet.  7.62x39 would be best since its less hindered by the short barrel.  .308 would be a waste and would absolutely mandate a flash suppressor.  I'm sure we could work up a load for the commie 7.62 with faster burning powder to take full advantage of the barrel length.  From what I've been told this has been tried many times with .223 to make it work in 10 inch barrels and it results in over pressures.  Blown cases, unseated primers, cracked throats and apparently the 55 grain 193 bullets will strip right out of the jacketing in the barrel.  7.62x39 is a lower pressure cartridge and the larger more sturdy bullet could probably stand pistol powders or at least faster burning ones.
