Another good read is "The Hunter, the Hammer and Heaven" from the same author who wrote "The World's Deadliest Places". After reading a few non-biased accounts of what's going on in Chechnya, it seems the rebels are not as bad as what they're portrayed as. The Russians are really doing horrible things to them.

Remember, that was the first war. This war is a whole new ball game. The Russians were just in the way that Lincoln was just in the Civil War. This time around a bunch of jihadist have moved in and are causing the problems.
Good book though. |

stalin had hudreds of thousands, perhaps more than a million, chechans executed and imprisoned in the gulag.
he realized that they could not be re-educated. the russians are not islamists. hmmm? i wonder i aqil collins is still in jail in mexico? |

Yes, he is still there. He had his sentence cut down to 4 years. It wasn't a reeeal smart move what he tried to do down there. Hopefully this cooling off period will wisen him up! He has also written another book Pelton is supposedly shopping it around for him.
