Was talking to my dealer on Saturday after my dad and I bought a Remington 700, SAR3 and a Yugo SKS and we were told that some laws were changed or added regarding importation of AK magazines.  My dealer said, the mags go for 10 to 15 dollars now, but that soon, only US made mags will be available for about$80 after all the imported inventories dry up.  Is this true, anyone know something about this?  Could this be one reason, some companies are sitting on huge inventories of AK mags?

I haven't heard anything, but our supply of cheap mags is at the mercy of the BATF approving import forms.

1st there are probably enough AK mags in the pipeline now to last us for years.

That what I thought...

I knew the guy was blowing us some smoke.  He does that shit all the time.

Your misinformed dealer is probably referring to Fineswines 'yet-to-get-out-of-committee' AWB reauthorization bill (S 1034). It's a re-write of the current ban that adds a ban on imported 10+ mags and does away with the sunset provision.

That's a fucked up line of shit to feed a customer that just spent a $1000 with you.  I would take the next oportunity to tell him how full of shit he is and never give him another bit of business.  Forgive the language, but if anything warrants it, its dealers like the one mentioned above.  Thank God there are a few good guys out there despite what the idiots try to do.

You know, I've never seen a US-made AK mag before.

I would imagine there are so many in the country that not a single one could be imported for years and the prices would barely budge.

You know it seems like no matter what I bring up at any gunshop it seems like they have no idea what the heck I'm talking about. Unless I restate it again and elaborate then they understand and are not so sure about it.

FFL's with a store front business are driven by the need to make a sale but of course. That is why when you ask for something specific they will show you something else that they actually have in stock.

The mag story is bull.

Here is an Idea for a Tee Shirt:

"You must think I had a screen door surgically attached to my rectum because you keep blowin' smoke up my ass!"
