Last night was the big night. My new Bulgarian AK74 parts kit built onto a Ohio Ordinance Receiver was finished and I got to go meet her. K-Var black synthetic (NATO length) stock, felt so much better than the standard length that I put my FSE Krink stock on the Exchange board!

Took her to the range today and she was an absolute joy. Perfect operation, no failures, almost zero sight adjustment. PERFECT! I hope to God, 5.45 is available for years to come.

Ran a little comparison between my 16" AR with Aimpoint shooting M193 and the AK74M shooting Wolf FMJ with iron sights. At 50 yards, the average group size with the AR was 1.18" and the AK only 1.55". Not bad at all.

Here's the best part...she only cost $325!!!!!!! Merry Christmas to me.

who built it for you?
Id also like to add my ORF-74 shoots just about as well, ive always wondered how these would shoot with some decent ammo. I would love to see the day Winchester started manufacturing some 5.45.
How accurate do you think these would be with ammo comparable in quality to XM-193?

See the ammo forum 5.45 test.
With RWS Dynamit-Nobel it is about the same as Barnaul fmj, 2moa. With the big gas systems and the roomier chambers, this seems to be the limit.
The RSA VEPR 5.56 project (typing from memory here) had some nice 2 3/4" groups at 200yds with irons and Black Hills ammo. But my shooting varies more than 1/2moa on any given day...

My SAR-2 gets more use than any other rifle I own. I like the 5.45 so much, I have no interest in a 7.62x39 rifle..well, maybe a Valmet if I could find one!
