I watched the first Terminator last night on IFC and I noticed that he was carrying what appeared to be a Valmet or Galil, especially during the police station shootout and later when he is on the motorcycle. If anybody watches it, notice the top cover with Valmet/Galil like rear sights and right side charging handle. Can anybody verify this?

Definetly a Armalite AR-180 with side folding stock.  The shotgun was a SPAS 12 and his pistol was a AMT .45 longslide.  All extremely well made weapons.

He got a semi AR-180 and Uzi from the gun store. The scene where he does the full auto conversion was cut from the movie.

Here they are side by side? Which one did you see?

I clearly remember his rifle had an exposed upper gas tube. To tell you the truth, neither of them look exactly like his but the Valmet more closely resembles his. Both of yours do look sweeeeeeeet by the way.

Nope, the rifle Scwartzeneggar used in the first Terminator was definitely an Armalite AR-180 modified to full auto.

I watched it recently and it was an AR-180 without a doubt.
