Ok,  what does everyone store their Ak mags in?  I have nice fitted storage bags for all my AR mags, but what does everyone use on this side of the board?

I have Bakelites and steel.  So, what does eveyone store them in?

What kind of storage bags do you use to store your AR mags?

I just usually neatly pile mine up in the gun safe.

I tend to through mine in a box in the closet.  They are AK mags, they're not picky.

Loaded in USGI 30mm ammo cans.  A perfect fit.

I store 6 mags in a chest rig/bug out system and I store the other in the mag well, chamber empty, in a safe.

My 20 rounders are in the rifle case and the 30s are stacked in the safe. Those German, Russian or Bulgarian magazine pouches might work. They hold 4-5 mags each.

A SAW can will hold 16 or 17 side by side.

Same here. Im keeping the new waffles in a supply bag until I get my AK a carrying case with the mag pouches on the side, then I'll put those in there. And then I keep the 10 round mag that came with the AK in the rifle.

I use a dresser drawer for my mags.  They stack up nicely in piles of 5.

I keep them in a cardboard box with the oil paper they came with.

I just use an old wooden ammo crate in my closet as long as they stay dry they dont need
any special treatment. I live in a dry environment with low humidity.

My 40 rounder (I know, pathetic I only have one, isn't it?) stays in the gun.  I got four 30 rounders in a East German magazine pouch, one thirty rounder lying on my desk awaiting repair, plus five more 30 rounders wrapped up in some paper stuff they came in when I got them from AIM.  My 10 rounder is laying around somewhere, can't remember where now, and I have two 75 round Romanian drums stored in some cheapie Chinese pouches I got with them.

Damn, I need more mags.

GI 20mm ammo cans. They hold 30 mags. That's 900 rounds all sealed up and ready to go.

I have 2 Norinco bakelite mags (30 rds).

Should I do anything special to protect them?

Since I have a lot of run of the mill metal mags, should I just put these 2 away for collecting value?

[#19]
yes, you should put away your rare bakelite 30rd mags and use the steel ones for the range.

I own one Norinco red bakelite 30 rd magazine
but I never use it.

I store them in a range bag.  One's for the ammo, the other one's for the mags.

I have my waffles stored in the pockets on my assault rifle case by Galati Int.

I just put them in a duffle bag too....
They aren't gold bricks..

Gold bricks - ha...Thats what I thought 15 years ago when I would toss out ar15 mags when they got dirty, dented, scratched!  Shit, I treat all mags like GOLD now a days!

You might be right AK mags aren't good as gold right now, but no matter what happens when the AWB expires and a new one of some sort takes it's place - 'my guess' is the segment of weapons that gets hit hardest in the re-write will be all the import assault weapons and manufactures of magazines.. just a guess, but I bet my guess won't be far off.

I keep my mags in an Ammo can. I think the next move would be to put a heavy tax on ammo, like the cigarette tax, gas tax..this would once again just hurt law abiding people, as I don't think the BG's goto the range very often, but it's never really been about the BG's anyways, now has it?

TravisAasen and BillC - I agree with both of you: I take good care of my mags, because I wouldn't be surprised about the antis attempting to screw us that way, and I also see an attempt tp tax the crap out of ammo - after all, they already tried a tax like that in Kali... Also agreed - it's NEVER been about the bad guys...

I treat my AK mags like the eastern block whores that they are!!!!I wipe them down with Mobil 1, and store them in plastic bins in the garage. Nice and neatly labeled bins, 7.62x39, 5.45X 39, and .223....I treat my AR, Sig, H&K, Glock, Beretta, etc mags with more courtesy...
