what type of side folder is on the sar? the wire type romanian/east german right side folding style pretty much sucks for getting a cheek weld on. the russian/bulgarian pressed sheet metal left side folding type is better.

in any event, it is very likely that the stock can be unscrewed and sold off...if the receiver hasn't been butchered up. re-fitting a fixed wooden buttstock is an easy chore.

the russian saiga based ak's are of good quality, in so far as the base gun parts go. how well the conversion to a pistol grip was done is largely dependant upon 'who' did the conversion job. hesse conversions range from good to horrid. almost everyone else did a better job of converting them.

both the sar seriies AND the russian conversions should be carefully eyeballed before one plunks his hard earned cash on the counter.
