I would like to have my serial number and right side receiver markings to stand out in white....

Been thinking how to do this, being a former plastic modeler I used to detail lines on vehicles and planes by using a thinned down wash(basicly thinned down paint) and using a soft cloth to "mob" up the surplus paint.

Anybody got a good working idea how to do this on a blued receiver?

I just degrease the area, then use Testors gloss white model paint and fill the letters or numbers till they overflow. Let this dry completely, then take a patch wet with WD40, Gunscrubber, etc and rub the excess off. It helps to use something with an "edge" wrapped around the patch towards the end. That way you tend not to wipe the paint out of the numbers/letters.

Or do it the easy way with a product made for this purpose:

For a quickie job that'll work for photos or whatever, use a crayon.  It actually lasts longer than you'd think :)

I like spray paint.

Spray a little puddle onto a paper plate. Dab a Q-tip into it and then dab that Q-tip onto the weapon. Take a patch with a hint of Hoppe’s on it and rub off the excess.

I've done 2 of my guns with white and red paint sticks from Brownell's.  I marked the "safe" letters white on my AK and AR and the "Fire" letters red.  Kind of an HK look.  The sticks are easy to use.  Just like using a crayon.  I heard that works, too.  Just fill the letters in and wipe of excess with a little spit on a paper towel.  The paint sticks to both guns well , one has standard AK finish, the other is a NP3 (robar) finished AR.
