I’m thinking this might be the way to go to get a good solid mount on an AK for an Aimpoint or similar optic. What do ya’ll think?

Does anybody know who does work like this and what kind of rear sight that is on the dust cover?

Best regards, J

Didn't ORF post a set-up similar last week or was I enjoying the benefits of Gunsnet membership a wee tad too much?

I did this to my personal weapon. The next ones will be welded from the under side.

Campy,

I can honestly say, that I have never had to readjust my POI on my 5.56mm Galil after having removed the reciever cover for maintenance.

While i can't say that I really care for that AR stock set up on that AK, the rest of the rifle looks pretty clean and high speed. What sort of muzzle attachment is that on there?

Its a Vortex. They've got that odd clamp on front sight on that thing as well. Ace does make a very nice windage stud that lets you use a AR FS post; read tritium. Dont go ordering a bunch y'all just got my AK back and I need a couple.

Sorry for bumping this thread back up top but someone just sent me an email link to it.  I'm not a regular reader here.  The gun in the top picture is mine and it was built by Chris at AK-USA.  Not too sure where you got that picture though as the quality is a bit off.  As for the rear sight holding zero, it does so quite well.  The gun was built on a .223 Saiga and the top cover fits quite tight.  There is no noticeable side to side play.  The gun shoots a bit under 2 MOA off a bipod and any deviation in zero can't be noticed.  More pics here:

i just had an ak-102 started by chris at AK-USA,  but i opted to go with the traditional sight and no rail.  same .223 saiga setup as M700, with the new comps they are manufacturing now.  chris told me that they use russian topcovers which are much tighter than the others and can retain zero on the irons.

M700 your rifle is truly a custom masterpiece.

Thanks for the welcome and the compliment SuperChicken!  Chris will be getting my Bulgie 74 kit in the near future too.  I'm waiting on the new receivers from Global to do mine.

Thanks again daemon for the compliments...good to see a familiar face.  I'm sure your rifle is going to be awesome, Chris does incredible work.
