Many, many years ago I was at at gun show in So. Calif which featured the "high end" collector guns. While standing at a table drooling over a display absolutely beautiful Lugers up walks Mel Torme. He carefully looked over each gun while engaging in small talk with me and the vendor. A really nice guy and very knowledgeable. The vendor later told me that Mel used to have one of the most complete collections of Colt SAA around. He lost it them all when divorcing one of his previous wives.

I heard that James Earl Jones is also a big collector too.
Campybob, was the low cost of the lugers there?

I remember reading about Mel Torme's Colt SAAs many years ago, in G&A. Mel was a classy guy.

I heard many years ago Mel Torme was a progun guy. This was problably while he had his Colt collection. Or maybe when he sold it.

Congrats on the Luger. I've always wanted one, too.

I really like my 513T. It's a fine shooting rifle, though the trigger isn't the greatest on these. But it's good enough for the type of shooting I do.

Yeah, I've done the same.

I still find it a little heavier and still very, very slightly creapier than I thought this rifle should be.

But I refuse to take the sucker apart and try to polish anything. I might not get it back together again. I'll live with it. The rifle still shoots better then I can.

There were lesser Lugers at the auction I was at Sat, along with a very wide range of about 150 guns. Thanks to this place not having a gun auction for years, maybe 50 people total showed up. Hunting rifles and 1911s went for normal rates, and the Swede 96 went for normal market. But I did get a very early Century L1A1 Sporter with very nice condition parts for $250, and a NIB unfired Australian Enfield No1MkIII for $150. 2 Maadis went unsold with $500 reserves LOL!!!
