I bought a few pistols and a VEPR .308 from a friend of mine. While I know what the pistols were worht, I'm unsure on the VEPR. All the ones I see have a black synthetic stock while this one has a nicely finished wood thumbhole stock on it. There have been less than 300 rounds through it and is in like new condition. Came with the detatch side scope mount, some cheap tasco scope, and 3 russian mags. Is the butthole stock model worth any more than the synthetics? What's fair market value on this rifle? I don't have any plans to seel it but I'm currious what it's worth.

That's the original VEPR as imported. The ones you see now, with the synthetic pistol grip stock, are VEPR II models.

I've seen prices on new ones from $399 - $550

They're about $400 usually.  The thumbhole was termed the 'Super Vepr', but I don't think it carried a premium price...maybe $50 more?  They're nice rifles, but the triggers suck.

I think you can safely say it's a good rifle.

Your thumb hole stock VEPR .308 is a VEPR I. The Super VEPR is a totally different rifle and worth alot more.
