Can anyone tell me what this type of rifle this is? I have looked through all my id books but have not seen this one.

Looks like a Krebs KTR3 (could be wrong on the model number) They are built by Marc Krebs at Kreb's Custom
.223 cal....IMHO, the jury is still out about mounting that rear site on the action cover. Maybe on a Tabuk, that has an additional latch, but not a conventional cover. www.krebscustom.com/KalashnikovRifles.html |

It's a Krebs AK-103k in .223 with the top cover from the KTR-03 specifically.

It looks like a Krebs AK103K in 7.62x39 that someone photo shopped with an AK74 waffle mag and the top cover off a Krebs KTR3.
Krebs does not make this variant, and he doesnt make the AK103K in 5.56x45 or 5.45x39. |

...actually it looks like somebody photoshoped the rear site block and cover from the M-3a, on to his 103... Something tells me for a price, anything is possible.

How about this one?
Please tell me what a fair price would be on this model. I'm told it's a rare variant of some kind, and I can't find one listed for comparison. It is marked norinco, but is a side folder. The stock is very sturdy and stout in either locked position. wissingfamily.com/ak -- Fargo007 |

That is a 56S-2 variant, believe it or not those (in the FullAuto state) are showing up in Afghanastan, and Iraq in numbers.
They IMHO, are more valued as collectors than shooters, because of the low number sold before the original ban ('89 Bush 41)went into place. I have seen the value rollercoster over the years, but currently in the $900~1100 range depending if NIB, with all original accessories, etc. You are correct the stock is a much tighter lock up than the underfolder. |
