i didn't miss it one bit...the power outage gave me some time to collect accessories for my garand, clean up the second winchester 52d, buy a ruger mk II stainless 5-1/2 bull bbl. to plink with, keep moving on a fal build project and...get caught up on mowing the damn grass!
freakin' rain! .25" yesterday...over .5" today...if the sun shines for 15 minutes that shit grows 3"!!!!!!
i also took a break and the wife and i went down to the steam show (antique power assoc.) and tractor pull, after work yesterday. man, i love seeing 600+ old tractors, hit & miss motors, garden tractors, old fire fighting equipment, a few old military vehicles, steam traction engines, threshers operating, a steam powered drilling rig...all that old stuff! good food, good folks and good fun!
btw, at the show this morning (akron, summit county) i saw antares, sfcret, shotar, re39, plateshooter, fwra (mark powell, from the fal files) and a bunch of other friends. i saw those laminated sar-1's for $329...looked pretty good to me for the money...better looking than the hardwood to my eyes.
no real earthshaking news to report. rs39 told me he spotted a winny 52 for sale. it took me exactly 27 seconds to drag him back to where he saw it! lol! did i mention that i like whinchester smallbores? anyways...it's gone from the rack...sold. turns out it was a 52b (the b's had the worst triggers of the 60 years worth of production) in a fajen t-hole (destroyed the collector value) for $650. no great loss.
if the thunder stops and the sun pops out as predicted for later this afternoon, i'll take the romy m69 out and see if i can pop me a groundhog.
i will not be around here tomorrow morning...we have a plateshoot to go have some fun in. iirc, the forecast is for clear skies!!!!
