Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Some suggestions on Stain for SAR 1 laminate?

Hey guys just got me a SAR 1 Laminate at a gunshow for $290. I need to sand the laminate slightly .I would like the reddish Russian looking color when Im all finished. I have some Minwax red oak stain. What have yall tried to get a nice r4ed touch with success? Thanks WarDawg

the Russians stain the varnish, not the wood..


..try tinting the varnish, I think you will be more plased with the results.

I picked up a SAR1 with laminate stocks.
I liked the pattern, but not the color, so I re-did them with Minwax Sedona Red 222, and a spray satin polyurethane.
