ok...i'm just about ready to build an ark!!

i can't even begin to keep up with the 3 acres i finish mow!!

monday, in between monsoons, i'm weed wacking the jungle growth back along the fencelines. i'm almost done when i see a busted fencepost...deer or horses sheared it off, i 'spect.

so...since monday i'm trying to replace this damn post...but it rains like i'm living in vietnam! every stinkin' day and every stinkin' night...rain!

finally, tonight it looks like i may have a window of opportunity. wifey and i head to the barn and grab a new fencepost, post hole digger, shale bar, hammer and some staples and trudge down the hill...into the woods and set to work.

42" down i hit water...did i tell you it's been raining in these parts?

well, after digging 48"...the required depth...it starts to rain those huge drops. "no problem!", i tell the wife, "just a short cloudburst and these big trees will keep us pretty dry." "it will be over in 2 minutes."

as were hurried to tamp the dirt back around the freshly set post the heavens opened up like back when noah was pulling up the boarding plank!!!

i told my wife to grab the digger and shale bar and high tail it to the barn...some 200 yards away...all uphill.

i stayed and stapled the wires back on the post...maybe 2 more minutes.

as i climbed the hill out of the woods i realised running was pointless. from my ballcap to my running shoes i was soaked like a sponge!

wife unit was likewise soaked.

we cleaned off/dried the tools in the barn while it poured for another 1/2 hour.

guess what the forecast is calling for tomorrow?

after our 3rd highest snowfall winter, this is getting old.

fog...grey skies...drizzle in the air.

the last 2 springs , here, were very wet...and during the first weekend of june somebody turned off the faucet. we've had poor crops for 2 years due to "drought".

well, this year we're off to a wet start and going by the 5-day forecast, no let up in sight.

if the grass dries off...even a little...i'll get the high ground mowed.

i gotta run into town. wifey's car needs the charging system checked and there are bulletfest targets waiting for me.

so...was...what kind of brushcutters do you buy?

i own 2 stihls...a litte 60 and a 75. both are near 10 years old and still run great..

and...i can testify thast farm use is far more abusive than what the area lawn crews put theirs thru! i take out multiflora bushes...the worst thing you can do to a trimmer!

i have a john deere (made in germany by solo, i believe) that i haven't used, yet. i also have the biggest mculloch made. believe it or not, that old, yellow pos has more hours on it than the rest put together and still throws the .105 line faster and harder than my stihls. go figure! that's the one i put my brush blades on, also.

cut thru a bud bottle?!?!?! now THAT'S impressive! i can't stand the shield, but i always use my goggles. turning yourself into a human salad is fun...isn't it?

dredd...cool! that's "morvatz's appliance recycling". i stopped 3 times and could never find him open.

two friends came out to the ranch to shoot this afternoon, after i hauled a dryer out to snode's...and they brought in another 60 or so propane bottles.

btw, found over $2 worth of change in that dryer! woohoo! it paid for its' ride to bulletfest! a first!
