My first post on the dark side of AR15.com lol.

<shrugs> Com-block, 30rnd 7.62mm, similar layout- it sure as heck aint an AR, and I figured the AK guys would be a better bunch to ask. I already know the historic and technical specifics of the weapon- like it was originaly designed to use the 7.62x45 that the VZ52 rifle uses. I also know the first and, to my mind, only use of VZ58 rifles in a film was the chick sniper in Full Metal Jacket.

Any dirt on it at all?
i saw them at knob creek. they are available in the 'sawdust/resin' furniture (pictured above), hardwood and black polymer (must have been a late model feature?). the north vietnamese did use them against us in vietnam. careful browsing of the old b&w news footage from indochina will turn up the vz-58, as will watching the more rare north vietnamese propoganda/news clips. although somewhat pricey, after looking at the milled receiver, i can see where the dollars go. the vz-58 would make a great addition to any collector's safe. |
