wasn't able to find this by searching
why is the forward pistol grip on AKs that have them canted forward? looks like it would be uncomfortable as hell

The Romanian and Hungarian forends are canted forward so that you can change magazines.

If they were canted rearward, you couldn't change a 30 round mag.

Actually, I think it is more comfortable.

Also, it helps clear the magazine.

I always found rear swept pistol-foregrips uncomfortable. Got a buddy who's got the forward sweeping Romo with a tac-light attached to the top portion and it looks cool as hell. I'm trying to find out if I can modify that handguard to fit my up and coming Krink.
