The rifle you speak of isn't a actually a Dragunov, but instead is a rifle indiginous to Romania called the PSL. It was developed for the same role, but is really more of an oversized Kalashnikov in 7.62x54. Check out this link for a good review of the rifle in question:

690 bucks, sounds like a good deal on a SSG 97........I have read that folks get good accuracy ....if your looking for a TIGER SVD.....you're going to be paying around the 1,000+ range.

7 bones is a good price. the fpk/psl is a beefed up rpk, designed for squad level marksmen.
while not up to the accuracy standards of a nato sniping rifle or dragunov svd, they are fun to see how tight you can shoot. most owners enjoy them for what they are, an inexpensive alternative to what is on the market and a rifle that is relatively cheap to shoot. |

$700 is a good price if the PSL comes with the Original Rommania scope ! a lot of those Romak3 which is the post ban version with no bayonet lug! comes with teh cheaper russina PSO scopes!
The ROm scope is trhe one manufactued by IOR in bucerest or valdada ! those are very good scope optically and it uses triturm illumination instead of the russina battery ones! DaveC |

I like mine, I went to Interord's warehouse in N.C. to pick one up. It was not as good as I hoped, it hade a "5 stage" trigger and about a 8-9# trigger. I couldn't group less than 3" at 100 yds in a 3 shot group. Well I took it home and did some mods to it and it shoots 3 shots in about 7/8" at 100yds now w/a 5# trigger. Thats with Russian LPS ball late 50s mfr., that I measured each bullet for uniformity.

installing the redstarms trigger group and setting it up as a 2-stage, breaking at about 3 lbs. will improve your shooting expirience with the fpk/psl, also.

UhUh uh well....I've got to admit that that your new AK student traded a Beta C Mag (I had $425 in the mag.) and $200, shipping included, for this rifle (97%+) with scope, 3 mags and all manuals. I just couldn't control myself !! (I just happened to find a case of 7.62X54 ammo in my garage................ . I owned a Russian Dragunov for about thirty minutes before a guy came along and made me an offer I didn't refuse. Never even shot the rifle.)) |
