Just took my first step to the AK side - got me an SAR-1 from AIM! The movement of the bolt carrier is kinda rough - when working the action by hand, it sometimes sticks and needs a bit of effort to get moving again.

I have put about 75 rounds through the gun, with no serious problems or stoppages. Just wondering if the rough action is normal, or poses any kind of safety hazard. Thanks...

(edit: I fully stripped the AK and lubricated all parts with CLP before and after my first range session - the bolt stickiness seemed a little bit worse after than before)

Thanks Bob, good call. It does indeed look like the gas piston isn't quite in line. I'll try straightening it out. I do notice roughness/machining marks on the underside of the bolt carrier too.
