yup. shell oil pumped out of n. viet while our boys pumped out blood.
i agree that oil is playing a role in this latest adventure...to what extent, i don't really know.
oil is a STRATEGIC resource for our country, as well as the lifeblood of our economy.
add the oil reserves of iraq into the islamic/terrorist/wmd/u.s. hating dictator/etc. scenario and to me it adds one more reason to throw saddam a few million pounds of ordnance.
saddam would destroy israel...with the willing help of his 'people' and 'pan arab allies'. he would also do his damndest to weaken america and our position in what has been and will continue to be the most strategic region in the world.
the usa runs on oil, this is surely true.
but, to minimize the thumb saddam has poked in our eye is to ignore history. he is irrational and in total control. he is (personally) a murderer and criminal of the highest order...nothing more than a bandit and thug.
he wants to leave his mark on history.
i think the only mark he is going to leave is a stain in the sand.
i do not view this coming conflict as the tail wagging the dog. it's an overdue reaction to a psychopath run amoke.
unfortunately, i can think of a few more middle east countries that also need the same treatment.
no more mr. nice guy.
now, here's a solution to screwing the arabs in their camel humping butts without firing a shot: we get serious about alternative energy sources. a 20% drop in demand would put their despotic governments and already corrupt economies in the camel pen.
sadly, the further 'oppresed' muslims would only turn their hatred and anger towards us with even greater vigor. they have hated us, they hate us and they will continue to hate us. whether it's over oil prices, religion, value systems, support of israel or because we don't prefer sex with sheep...they hate us. they hate our dress. they hate our music. they hate our television. they hate our press. they hate our foreign policy. they hate our food. they hate our customs. they hate our culture. they hate what we stand for. they hate our dreams. they hate our accomplishments. they hate our heritage.
they hate.
fine.
all the more reason to put a mcdonald's on every streetcorner in bagdaddy and put saddam to work in a hotdog factory.
without hatred, i'll be the first one in line to volunteer to open the bomb bay doors.
the hate must stop. unfortunately, when one is dealing with irrational, focused hatred...there are limited courses of action as to how change can be effected.
ww2 and the japanese come to mind.
kill them, obliterate them, visit ruination and hell on earth upon them...show them what hatred reaps.
then give them a helping hand in rebuilding their little shithole cities by buying their oil and selling roast pork sandwiches to american tourists outside their 'palaces'.
and while were at it...teach them to play baseball. who knows? perhaps iraq will one day produce a player as skilled as ichiro!
