The only brand of AK sold in my area come from Century Arms.

Are those serviceable rifles?

Serviceable is a little ambiguous.

That's a Century imported AK, not Century made. You're good to go.

Nothing wrong with shopping online either.

OP shouldn't buy an underfolder for his first AK.  It's a good way to sour new shooters on the AK platform.

Why? They're fun to shoot.

I agree, but a lot of shooters find them uncomfortable and rough.  Especially today's shooters who grew up on 5.56 AR15's with almost no recoil and perfect cheek weld.

Just like you don't start off a new handgun shooter with a 44 Magnum, you don't start off a new AK shooter with an underfolder.  They may love them (I sure do,) but a lot of shooters won't.

If OP has shot underfolders and liked them then he should get one.  But if OP has been bitten by the AK bug and hasn't shot many, there are better ways to scratch that itch.

Clayco underfolder was the 1st AK rifle I ever fondled & fired back in 1990 and it didn't scare me away from AK's, LOL !!
