Ok newbie here, can get a SGL 21 for $1000 but really want a AK with wood furniture. So I see this Polish one on Atlantics site for $839 and looks good to me. Looking for suggestions from you experts on the Polish ones quality etc. Any recommendations will be appreciated

An sgl for 1k is a decent buy in this market. I would go for that, no doubt.

The SGL is almost an investment now. Going rate is 1300-1400 and only going up.
But don't expect anything special, it's an AK no more no less.

Get the SGL and put wood furniture on it later. That's what I would do! Why? Because you are getting a banned Russian Siaga, don't pass it up!

SGL-21 by far.  For wood, look in the EE.

This, +100

There's also some vendors out there on the interwebs, that i've seen that have some NOS wood sets, unfinished, for fairly cheap, some under 70 bucks, Bulgarian IIRC.

ETA: well this one went up on price, thought I remember it being like 70 bucks, $109 now, but still pretty cheap and new: http://www.clearviewinvest.com/ak47stocksetunfinishedbeech.aspx

Disagree. An SGL is pretty special, at the moment.

I really don't see how. My SGL looks and functions just like my Saigas and wasr. AK is AK is AK.

Honestly I gotta go with the Polish knowing how rare the fixed stock guns were compared to the underfolders.

Pretty good price for an SGL, provided it's in good shape. I'd agree that it's nothing particularly special, except for the fact that russian guns keep going up in price. You can always swap the furniture for wood.
