interesting.
I do like my alpha rail. eta: it will get really hot if its anything like the AR rails |
|
There are going to be lots of burned fingers on the gas tube with that design.

Interesting....like the idea of further reach on support hand.
Sorry, but new to the AK community here.....what is the deal with the distain for Troy? R |

At least they don't have the gap between the handguard and receiver.
|
|
Since they are from Troy, I won't be buying them. But if I did, I would wear gloves.
|
|
Why is he aiming with safety on acting like he is going to shoot in the ad?

And agree....I'm not going to support that shit either. Thanks for the info. R |

His left hand, of course, hides the area where the lower handguard mates to the receiver.
I actually wasn't aware of the Troy controversy until reading this thread. Interesting..... |

I would prefer companies new to the Ak game innovate. Those afraid of heat, a pair of firm grip gloves is $15 at home depot.
|
|
Guys, if you want to Troy bash, please do it in General.
And they could have covered the gas block. |

I don't have to do that with an AR and the right design would negate that with an AK too. I will admit, it is almost impossible to really carry an AK for days without gloves because the sharp edges will eat your hands up. |
|
So as to not bash the manufacturer.... I'll simply say "nope".

No front sight. I wonder how that warrior is aiming.
All these attempts to improve the AK are just polishing a turd. It is what it is and it was designed to be a piece of shit peasant rifle riveted together by communist slave labor and it does that better than any other rifle. Trying to dress it up and make it something it's not is just stupid. |

I disagree with your assessment of the AK being a "turd".

Oh yeah, I see the front sight now. I was at a weird angle to my LCD and it blended it with the background.
I stand by my "turd" assessment. I've carried AKs. I had a tabuk in Iraq and an egyptian in AFG because all I rated at those times was a Beretta. It's better than a pistol but it's not worth all of the custom work and boutique accessories because no matter how good the smith or how much money you dump on it you cannot adequately overcome the basic design flaws. The best AK mods I have ever seen were the Larue MRD mounts and the oversize mag catches. Beyond that it's reminiscent of those guys that drop $1000+ to get 1MOA out of their Mini-14 Get an AK, add a rear sight MRD mount and call it a day. |

I prefer an AR stock on my AK not because its tactical but because the footprint of an AR stock is almost double that of a traditional AK stock. Much more comfortable on the shoulder. |

"gives the shooter a longer gripping platform for enhanced accuracy"...
Hey, i've got several of those, they're called "the factory handguards that come with every Vepr or Saiga made". no extra charge. |
|
I wouldn't worry about the hand guards heating up.
Troy's demographic (Shooters of women and children) only need a few rounds. No more Troy for me |

That thing is ugly, and the fact that it doesn't even cover the gas tube is . Not everyone has a railed gas tube.
