I bought my 101 before the panic for less than that, if I didn't have one I would pay that price. You can pay a bit more and get one of the new Arsenal milled sidefolders. I paid $1325 for my milled sidefolder from RatWorx.

Best AK I ever owned, but I got mine back when they were $450-$550 from my LGS. I wish I'd never sold it. Sold it for $700 a few years later.
