Zastava has a very good rep. That's probably a damn fine rifle if it works.

I had no idea the .308 version was being imported now. Very cool. Break it down and take lots of pics of the bolt, carrier, trunnions, etc.
.308? I can only imagine what else they must have in the pipeline! They better start selling de-banned versions like the 7,62x39 PAP

Thanks. Yugos have a screw at the rear trunnion for the attachment of the stock. Try removing the butt plate and you should see a bolt.
Quoted: I took the screw out of the pistol grip, but was unable to remove the stock. I tried to knock it rearward with a rubber mallet, but it would not budge. Any suggestions? 8mm bolt that runs the length of the butt stock and threads into the rear of the receiver. |
Hey Liquid...is that a slant cut receiver or is the stock simply covering up that part of the receiver. I know you know Yugos.

In response to my previous comment, Slap a wood PG and an M76 stock on there with some wood HGs and it would look sweet.

That is one odd looking rear. Plus, the way that pistol grip nut is riveted to the underside of the receiver is kind of silly imo.
Quoted: I got the stock off. A small screwdriver through the tiny holes in the buttpad to remove it exposed the single screw from the back. http://i814.photobucket.com/albums/zz66/Dferg10/645DD378-9781-4236-BCD1-D4B15FEC2357-1194-000001109E06607C.jpg Exactly like the early x39 PAPs. Regular M70/M72/M76-type Yugo butt stocks will probably bolt right on, you just have the aesthetic issue of the slant cut to deal with. |

I will try to cut it down and sand it to fit the slant. ETA: Now I have decided to go the other route. I am going to get an Ace Yugo block and weld the sides and bottom to make up for the slant cut and go withan Ace folder. |

That thing would look damn good with some M76 furniture and a M95 flash hider.
Not really looking at picking up another rifle right now, but it does make me think about it. |
Very nice. I'd love to have one of those.
But I can't help but ponder modding one to take M-14 mags. |

Any plans for an optic of some sort? Yes. Any advice would be welcomed. What do you suggest Liquidmetal- and any others.... |
that's one beefy scope rail!
ETA: I'm assuming a Tabuk stock would fit that nicely also. Looks like my plans for a .308 AK DMR may have changed a bit.... |

Budget is not a big issue, but I do not want to spend money needlessly. Primarily 100 to 200 yards. I presently have an EOTech and an Aimpoint PRO that I use on ARs. |

what mount is compatible with that rail? Looks like it is primarily designed for forward stop svd style clamps as the Yugo scopes also use such. It looks like an ak clamp could also be used but it would sit way back. OP, a PSO/POSP (svd clamp) would be a good fit. |

If you know of a good sourc let me know. Thanks again. |

Looks a lot like the factory rail on my x39 PAP. I use a SVD mount on that rifle.
If I was in your shoes, based on your intended usage, I would be looking hard at a 1-4x variable. Very good up close, very good further out. It will easily stretch out beyond 200 yards when you feel the need. I just put a 1-3x variable on my FAL for use primarily from 50 to 400 yards. |

Where is a good/reliabe place to get one- plus mount, plus FAL mount? |

OOOO I could see myself making a yugonov type rifle with this rifle.
What type of magazines does it take? Do they seem to be good quality? Are any existing magazines able to be modified to fit?

Should've went with the full-length RS base, you could have used it with both the Aimpoint and the 1-4x scope. http://s20.postimg.org/6jdzaje9p/Vepr_010.jpg Very nice. I plan to get that one too and will also use this on an SLR 101s. They did a great job with this mount. |
