223 Bulgarian AK? if not, who makes it?

I have a 223 AK that i built on a NDS receiver. im wondering what country the kit was from, as i had no information on it when i got it.

More pics would help. But my guess at this point is Bulgarian. Post a picture of the markings on the barrel trunnion.

That FSB is Romanian and came on AIM-74s. Romanian barrels are turned down more near the muzzle than Bulgarian ones so the FSBs don't interchange easily. Does it have a 90° gas block? Only 5.56/.223 Romanians have them, 5.45s kept the 45° one. Odd to have a 5.56 "surplus kit" as they were never an issue rifle. If it's really .223 then it's probably a demilled SAR-3.

it has a 90 degree gas block
trunion has this on it 63-07279-2000

the gas block looks like this
not like a ak47 one that has more of a gradual taper

Pictures of the trunion markings would clear all this up in no time. Not just the numbers, but whatever arsenal mark is on it.

only the front end is complete. i built the rest on a NDS receiver with a tapco FCG and a romy G butstock.
when i got it, the receiver was torch cut just shy of the front trunnion

i will post a complete photo tonight
i appreciate the help in trying to decipher what it is i built

It's Romanian. It used to be an SAR-3, but someone pulled the front end. The FSB and the 22mm brake is a dead give away.

Romy's have 45 degree gas block though.....a new gas port would need to be drilled for a 90

Not the .223/5.56 ones, they have 90° blocks. The 5.45s retain the 45° gas block even thought the port is drilled at 90°. It's a SAR-3.

The entire front end was Bulgarian on the very early ones.
The Romy 223 Bolt Carrier is also a close copy of the Bulgarian 5.45 BC.
Very different from the SAR-2 BC.
