Ì went at a friends house and he helped me removing a staked pistol grip screw on my new AK..

he then proceed to show me mags that a gunshop owner gave to him, but we are unable to find what kind of gun they fit !

we tried my and his chinese AKs in 5.56.45, and it doesnt fit. We tried his russian Ak74 in 5.45x39 and it doesnt fit... finally we tried his bulgarian AKM in 7.62x39, and obviously, it doesnt fit either..

On the following picture, you can see the AK74 mag, the 3 unknow mags, a 5.56x45 promag and a 5.56x45 steel mag

I don't see other caliber can an AK chamber... could it be some Romanian AK in 7.62 nato ?

Or could it be another weapon such as an SKS ???

thx for your help, and sorry for the carry cell phone picture.

What area won't fit?  The tab won't lock in?

I have some romy made 5.45 mags that won't fit my SGL 31.  I had to file the rear tab area to get them to fit.

I'm assuming your mags are the same and should work with a Sar-2 or WASR-2.

The first one on the left looks like a Russian plum. The next two or either Romanian or Polish. The poly mag looks like a Pro Mag, and the last one is Chinese.

Chinese AKs in 5.56x45 typically only take the Chinese 5.56 magazines.  One can modify Bulgarian 5.56 and Yugos/Romies to fit (some go without problems if I remember reading posts a while back for rifles with looser tolerances etc...), but typically it's only the unique mags (2x Rib).  Although I must say those look like 5.45 Romanian/Polish.

Here is Shooter521's guide from TAKF with regard to 5.45 for future reference if you have yet to see it.

Romanian 5.45x39 metal mags would not lock into my Bulgarian SLR-105 without removing material from the rear locking lug.  Polish metal Tantal type mags would lock in fine.  If that is the area that won't fit I would guess they are Romanian 5.45x39 mags.
