So after all of your suggestions about the SLG21 for $500 and I am very interested in this Rifle. First question is, is this a reliable rifle? I want something that can take a beating. I am new to AK's but watching the military channel it seems that they can take a lot?? Second question is if I decided to order this can I go to my local gun shop and have them order this rifle for me? I need to pay cash for the rifle since my wife WILL NOT let me purchase another gun, She thinks six is enough She watches the bank account like a hawk. Let me know what your thoughts are.  Thanks!

They're a Russian AK, of course they can take a beating.  I bought a SGL21 from kvar and it's a fabulous rifle - I love it.  I don't think you should go behind your wife's back on this.  Either tell her you're buying this rifle and that's that or respect her wishes and save the money for another day.  You'll kick yourself for not buying one at the current price though as I doubt you'll find an Arsenal any lower than this in the future.

Yes, this is a reliable rifle.  It's an AK, and a very good one at that.

Second, yes, your gun shop can order one for you but they'll probably tack on 10% to the price, which is a pretty standard practice.  So, you'll pay $550 plus shipping.

I don't want to go behind my wifes back on a new rifle but it's the only thing I can think of. I have always wanted an AK but she said that would NEVER happen. For some reason she hates them but then again she hates most guns. Her and I come from completely different backgrounds and I love her to death but there really is no compromising when it comes to firearms with her. So im kind of stuck I guess but still want to order the gun. Thanks for the input!

What's the difference between the SGL 21-61 and the SGL 21-71?

I have a question.  I picked mine up today and removed the brake.  Is that a threaded 24RH-to-14LH adapter on there or is it pressed on (it didn't want to move)?  The real question is that I want a flash hider on there, regardless of the threads, so what is the best way to go?

The threaded portion is part of the FSB, and won't come off unless you remove the whole FSB. There are 24mm flash hiders available:

The only difference is the stock length.  The 61 is Warsaw length (about 9 1/4 inches) and the 71 is NATO length (about 10 1/2 inches).

If you can actually afford it, buy it, tell the wife that you want it and have the money and thats it.  At some point she is going to have to deal with the fact that you are a gun enthusiast, or pack her bags.

Why on earth do guys marry women knowing full well that they are going to have to fight about the things they love doing?

If cash is tight, your wife is the bread winner, and money needs to be put toward other things like food, housing, kids, etc then you should probably listen to your wife. If this is not the case, you should be able to spend your own money as you please for your hobbies and interests. Its not like your buying porn DVDs or illegal drugs.

I suggest  divorcing your wife.  Then buy whatever AK you want.

In today's courts she would probably end up getting all of his guns along with the rest of his possessions and most of his money anyways.

Dude, you need a piggybank around and scrape all of the money you'd save by cutting back on lunches out with co-workers, plus whatever loose change you get from small purchases like coffee, bagels and what not.  Before you know it, you'd have enough stashed away for one of these guys.
