Pre 94 is preban.A kit's build date doesn't matter as you will be using a new production receiver , so no folder,flash hider,or bayonet lug.If you have the right tools building them is fairly easy.You're probably better off getting a Saiga for $400 and converting it to a pistol grip configuration, as the kit prices have gone up a lot.

Pre-ban as far as AKs go, refers to rifles imported before the 89 Importation ban. This means they can have the "non-sporting" features and retain all of the foreign made parts. Any rifle containing "non-sporting" features imported, or made after 89 must contain no more than a certain amount of foreign made parts. That is why you will see US compliance parts being sold.
