I don't know it's me or it's the gun, my milled AK feels heavy and my left arm felt sore after 5 min use of my AK. (Sam 7 A1r) I am not a skinny dude, i am about 5'8 185 pounds. Sometime i think AKs are too heavy for me. Does anyone have the same experience. thanks.

Sorry dude, but it is you. Seriously, work out. It will fix this problem and make you feel much better in general. The weight of an AK is actually on the light side, compared to many guns. |
Werd. Try the M1 Garand. Definitely much more chunky than a milled AK. |
Weak arm I'd say I have a milled AK too and it's not heavy at all, milled ones are only a few ounces heavier then the stamped.
i heard the milled receiver is at least 2 pounds heavier. I don't own a stamp AK, so i am not 100% sure. i believe my milled AK is about 8.5 pounds.

Can anyone with both weigh them? Obviously any differences in furniture, optics, etc would have to be addressed, but it would be nice to know what the weights are. |
I'm almost positive that 2 lbs would be false. It's hard to make a comparison because there's so many different variants, but when I get home if I have a proper scale I'll see what the difference is. I think it's around 8oz, though. Sounds like you either have something wrong with your arm as a guy your size shouldn't have any problems with any AK variant. I'm 5'6" and about 160lbs, and lead a way-too-sedentary lifestyle yet I can shoot my SA M-7 R without fatigue. AKs are pretty easy shooting rifles. |

SA M-7 A1 R - 7.7lbs (arsenal)
SLR-105 - 7.1lbs (arsenal) AKM - 6.8lbs (wiki) |

just weighted my Sam 7 A1R ------ 9.2 lbs. (with 30 round empty waffle mag)

When I was in the army in 66 we had to excerise using our M14s and after about a week they felt like a .22. So I would suggest you learn at least the manual of arms and do it about 5 times a day and I think that will make the AK seem as light as a .22. I am now over 60 years old a heavy beer drinker and smoker and I know I could hump a little milled receiver AK all day long.

[batman begins] what good does benchpressing all that weight do, if you can't lift a simple AK?[/batman begins]
grow stronger |

benching 250 means squat, I know guys that can bench over 300 and when you ask them to do 5 pull ups they cant........the milled recievers are heavier than stamped by a pound or 2.....then add a full mag, yea they get a little heavy, just practice more, as far as recoil or kick......there is none with a 762x39. You want kick? try a 308 or step up to a 12ga for that matter.....its all in what your used to, eventually even those rounds look weak after shooting them for a while, like I said it just takes time and alot of practice......if you still cant handle it after a bit I would suggest selling for a stamped reciever......or better yet just go straight to a AR

Troll Allert......... I was going to try and find a nice way to tell you to man the fuck up since my skinny ass 13yr old son has no problem handling an ak and my 4yr old daughter helps me carry them to the truck. But I remembered two of your other trollish threads that got locked. Did a little search and found a couple of other post that show your fos......

thanks guys for all great responses. I guess my arm is just too weak. I just thought maybe there was some manufacture defect on my AK. I'll keep you guys update.
are you f*cking kidding me?! a manufacturer's defect that makes a gun too heavy? turn in your man card, and go find yourself a nice 10/22. |
Great advice Everyone, just sucks that its wasted on a TROLL. Good eye acman145acp
LMAO i can bench 250lbs Your good, the Manufacture defect gave you a way though. |
Chock full of win. Seriously though, you might want to check with your doctor for poor blood circulation in your arm. It could be a sign of a rare but serious medical condition. |
i knew you guys would laugh at me. I think i have embarrassed myself enough, I just thought if anyone out there has suffered a similar problem. but obviously not, i appreciate for all the comments.

Troll be Gone already, your not even funny anymore. No one has even seen this so called rifle of yours, with the soft hammer |
If your holding it for 5 min shooting it would get heavy but with practice you'll get used to it.
Think it's heavy shot an AK pistol for 5 min. holding an AK pistol without it resting against the shoulder get heavy fast but with |

I can hit 405 for reps on the bench but man, those milled AKs are just too much for me also

Bondyu, AK's are naturally front heavy.I imagine that a milled one even more. You just need to spend alot of time with this rifle and get used to it.I think you are using muscles that are not used to this type position. In time you will get used to it. No matter how much you paid for your Milled Ak,you got one,and most of us wish we had one. If i had the ducat's to throw down for one,,,,i would probably be putting those "Hot/Cold" patches on muscles i haven't used in a long time too LOL. Stick with this forum and you will learn alot.Just ignore the guys who have to beat on their chests and say to "Be A man". It Takes guts to start a thread like this and let the shit slingers harass you.

I'm still curious to know why the OP's AK weighs 2 lbs. more than Phreakmode's. Any thoughts, or is this just BS?
I dunno? This thread brought back memories of spending the day with a 35LB Barret Light 50. What a fun day! Yeah i was sore.It didn't kick bad,but Dang it was heavy LOL.
thanks for your encouragement. I will try to get used to this gun. Sometime i was thinking if the kids at Africa can pick this up freely, what is wrong with me, a grown adult that have such a hard time with this weapon. I really enjoy this forum and it's good to hear something nice once in a while. You take care.

im sorry |

You should trade it in for a 16 inch ptr-91 with a sliding stock. Barely any felt recoil at all.
