I am gonna order one to try it out, as long as I can find someone to ship it too outside of Md.

How do they put those plastic ones together? Notice how all the pictures are dark so you can't see the lines where the two steel mags join one another.

I don't know man. If I were you, I'd buy a 40 round original Bulgarian waffle mag in 7.62, or buy a 45 round 5.45 Soviet mag from K-VAR. They cost just as much, and you get the REAL thing.

I make those mags and sell them from 50 rounds.com. They are preban and legal. Every mag guaranteed to work or I buy it back from you. It is explained fully on the site that the mags are made from 2 smaller mags joined together. There is NO attempt to hide this fact by trick photography. I am just a lousy photographer. Everyone knows what they are getting before they get it.Who cares if you can or cannot see where the 2 mags are joined together if you can shoot 50 rounds without reloading? Over 500 mags sold to members of AK-47.net and the Falfiles and not one returned for refund.
FYI the 545x39 45 round mags from KVAR cost $95 more than the 50 round 545x39 mags I sell. The mags are NOT marketed as authentic. They are not for collectors of authentic AK magazines, but for guys who like to have a little fun at the range.
Thanks
Tony

I love the work you have done with those mags, but I have not has the chance to try them out personally.
Care to donate 1 or 2 for a review for this site? I have both the AK47 & AK74.

Just a thought.

Thanks for the friendly welcome to the site. I'd be happy to send both Wave and M4_Aiming_at_U a sample mag for review. Just read the FAQs at the site and you will know exactly what to expect. You'll get a mag that works and looks pretty good too. If you can see the spot where the mags are joined together, you already knew that. If you don't see it, even better.

Clever how I disguised the mag as a little red x. I guess you can't post pics hosted by another site.

Alright. You got me. I never said you were a fraud sir, I just want to know how the heck you put two plastic magazines together. The metal ones I can see, but not the plastic ones.

Here, I found the answer on the FAQ:

Q: How are these magazines made?

A: I cut the bottom off of one mag and the top off another. The cut ends are placed next to each other and for the 545 bakelites and CETME mags, a piece of 30 gauge sheet metal glued to either side. For the 762x39 AK, 223 AK, and FAL mags, I apply ultra thin pieces of aluminum sheet metal layered onto the mag body, glued to each other, and burnished into all the mag ribs and grooves. The result is an incredibly strong joint. Any rough edges are sanded out. The mag is primed, sanded once again, and then painted with 2 coats of Rustoleum flat black spray enamel.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Maybe Mao should buy a 5.45x39 mag for his SAR-2.

Mao,
I knew what you meant. My first post came off as a little defensive.
Where in IL are you? Ever go to Buffalo Range?

I'm down near St. Louis. Yeah, I wish I could have been to that last shoot you guys had, but it was too far of a drive.

I should get my SAR-2 back today or Monday, which means I'll get to shoot it next Saturday. After I shoot it, I'll decide what else to get. I put a lot of money into making it pretty and replacing the scope rail, so I hope it works out for me.

Shankton, in regard to your 5.45 mags...(40, 45 and 50 round)

What is the length in comparison to the Russian 45 rounders?

I guess what i'm trying to ask is will those bad boys fit in a mag pouch?

Thanks!

My 50 round 545 mag is 12 inches long along the back. I don't know the length of the Russian 45 rounders. The 45 rounder is just about 11 inches long.

Hmm, the 45 should fit just fine. Maybe the 50's would as well...

Now to figure out which box my 40 round pouch is in...

The mag arrived today! One word comes to mind...BUMPFIRE

I think you forgot that "bumpfire" word today.  I saw this mag today and it looked pretty cool but I own no AKs.

Thanks for the report Wave.
One of the FAQs I have on my website is "Have the mags been torture tested?"
The mags are plenty sturdy, but if you are determined to destroy something you will succeed.
As you posted, they will hold up to regular magazine use, ie load with rounds, insert in rifle, and shoot (or bump). If used in this manner, they will last indefinitely.
