Plastic totes slide under the bed. They're not really durable enough for loaded mags unless you're careful moving them around

I was able to fit 18 magazines in to a fat 50 ammo can. That seem to be the best choice.

Just to expand on the ammo can idea -
Be cognizant of who will be moving the ammo cans. Some people may struggle with your loaded 40mm can. If this is for long-term storage, the VCI bags posted above are a good idea along with desiccant. |

USGI ammo cans that are new or in excellent condition is the only way to store mags as well as ammo. Make sure the rubber lid seal is good and the can has no rust, dents, creases, holes. The big 20/40mm cans, can be hard to move when loaded. Use smaller .30 & .50 cans for ease in transport and maybe buy a big 20/40mm can or two to store your smaller cans inside at home. This will give you more room and keep them together.

I use a few drawers in my tool cabinets for mag storage. A tool cabinet like a Kennedy, Craftsman or Husky is heavy enough to handle mags full of ammo, and can be locked up for safety/security. Easy to locate mags too, seems this rifle likes Romanian & Korean mags, that one prefers Hungarian & Magpuls. Maybe I'm gonna shoot some corrosive thru a Tapco and not a Tanker.
For long term/weatherproof storage, a 30/50/fat 50 ammo can, depending on whether they're loaded and how strong you are. Easy to stack & move too. |
