The "D" comment being Hungarian in the link is interesting. There are no pictures and he doesn't mention if it's on the spine or on the mag body like in my case.

It's cosmoline/oil. It looks blued (vs. being painted or parkerized). The welds do seem "rough" so I'm leaning Romanian as well, but the "D" argument above is compelling. I have some Hungarian 40 round mags so I'll have to pull those out for comparison, although those also could be Romanian so I would be confirming nothing.
I know mags that are sold by companies are usually labelled whatever country they are imported from so this is not a criticism of Copes at all. I just want to know the country of origin. They look to be in new condition.
