There is a gun store locally that has a little more than 1k left after I bought around 500 rounds of Silver Bear 7.62x39 Effect HP's. I posted a week ago, asking what exactly the "effect HP" is and how well it performs. Has anyone done any type of testing with this ammo, or is it "bunk" like Wolf HP's? In any event, with ammo being hard to find 4.00 a box seems pretty fair to me. I was going to buy the rest of it, but since I don't know all that much about it, I think I will stick with my Golden Tiger/Wolf, which I can still get from a guy who has some N.O.S. Anyone have information about the possibile lethality or expansion/fragmentation properties of the Effect HP? Is it different from the standard Silver Bear HP?

I absoulutely loved the Silver Bear 62gr .223 HP.
That stuff was potent and accurate. The report and recoil made Wolf look like a pea shooter. I wish I could find some for a reasonable price. I purchased a case (1,000) last year around this time for $120.00 shipped!! from ammunitionstore.com. |

I found a local store that had some 124gr. Match "Effect" during the February gunshow. I picked up a case for $150. I went back this last weekend to the same show, same store, no bear...
 So it's out there, it's just hit or miss. |

Does anyone know if this Silverbear stuff is magnetic?

That site has some of the most expensive ammo I have ever seen. I bought the Hungarian 7.62x54R 440 round case from a gun show for 40 dollars, and they are selling it for 110. Even on sportsmansguide they still have it for 40 dollars for a case of 440. |
