Went to a Pawn shop I had never been in before, they had 3 - 4 kinds of 7.62x39 but none at quantity prices. They were:

Wolf HP - $4.00 a box, he had maybe 20 boxes

Unknown surplus Brass case packaged 15 rounds to a white box, no labels or markings on the boxes and priced at $3.50 per box. I'm not familiar with what these may have been, I remember a while back someone had some Yugo brass case that was in 15rd boxes, could have been but I really dont know.

Another odd looking surplus with crappy thin paper boxes a very light blue - green in color, 20 rounds to a box. No labling whatsoever. The cases were green lacquer but different looking than Wolf or most Russian I have seen, and had primers that had 6-8 crimps all the way around. And at $6.00 a box! Looked like he had maybe a couple thousand, but for that price you might as well go to MegaLo Mart and buy their white box.

Yeah, in my observations, a lot of places seem to be selling 7.62x39 for $5 per box these days. That seems to be the going rate for XM193 and Q3131 too.

I remember in Dec. Dunhams Sports had it on sale for $2.50. I keep watching the adds to see if they put it back on sale. I know my local store has like 2K on the shelf in boxes but at $4.00 a box I'll wait a couple more weeks for my backordered ammo to come in.

Why would they drop prices if we will pay that much for it?  It's like gas.  They have us and since were hooked, they can just charge what they want.  Besides the prices of metal going up.

Maybe we can get china to stop buying all the metal so russia can make more cheap wolf again.

That, and war with Iran won't help much either if we go.  Since Russia and Iran trade with each other, that will likely make Russia an enemy once again, so we probably won't be shipping anymore ammo from them.

Last time I checked at Sportsmans Warehouse, they had 7.62x39 Wolf for $2.99/box.  Not too shabby but up $0.50 from a month or so ago.

If we get into a war with Iran, cheap ammo will probably be the least of our worries.  Wouldn't be suprised to see gas go up to $4 or $5 a gallon at least for awhile.

Lately, I look at my rifle like I want to sell it. No point in having the damn thing with no ammo. Not about to break my bank just to shoot.
