If it was real steel core mil ammo I'd like a box.

Chances are it's just regular ammo. He provides no proof it's the real deal.

Probably just run of the mil ULY ammo.  That shit's been for sale for so long, I've seen it up for at least the last 4 months with never a bid.  The funny part is that it was listed as $700.00, but somehow, since he wasn't selling it at that price he believed that raising it to $1,000 will help it sell?!  The guy needs to go to college or business school and learn basic micro-economic concepts.

The handwritten can label doesn't do much for his case.

Anyone remember all the ripoff artists selling "armor piercing" 7.62 ammo at gunshows for $3.50 a round?  You know the guy that had the magnet to prove it was steel core.  Never mind it is a steel jacket or anything.  Same guy that sells the AP .45acp, and incendiary 9mm.  It was the real deal with the (hand) painted tips.

Actually the guy is smart. He is looking for a dumb ass, who will say "Holly shi.. this ammo is scarce, I better buy it while I can".

A friend of mine sold one of his C&R rifles this way. A 700$ rifle for 1400$, not bad huh?
It took about a year to sell, but he made quite a profit...

I am sure if he will keep the ammo on there long enough, someone will buy it.

He wants the buyer to pay 3.9 % PayPal fee?  WTF?

The standard rate is 2.9 % plus .30 cents.  If he's got a merchant account, it's less than that.

I don't agree with sellers passing that cost on to a buyer in the first place, but I always walk away when they try to cheat on the fees. I don't care if it only amounts to pocket change, there's a principle involved here.

Do you stay awake at night worrying about shit like this? The guy is up front of what he charges. I charge 3.5% for using paypal and still lose a few cents when doing it.

Well I have a tin of 5.45x39mm just like the one on the auction site. I even have the wooden case it came in with the can opener. Pics of it are on the ammo id page of my web pages.
mywebpages.comcast.net/jfreeman246/ak_rifle_ammo.htm
I will let it go for $500 and throw in the wooden case/can opener. Free shipping and no paypal surcharges. too.

Good man!  If I needed that ammo, I'd split the PayPal fee with you.

How do people make steel cores? I want to learn. Can people make them for personal use? If I have bullet molds, can I make my own steel type ammo?

It is against the Paypal user agreement to charge extra to a buyer if they use Paypal.  They will shut you down for it if you get caught

Steel core bullets are not cast but are swaged.

If you make steel core ammo, make sure it is not in pistol calibers or the 7.62x39mm, and also make sure that you don't use it in a pistol (IE if you make 5.56x45mm steel core, don't use it in an AR-15 pistol).

Also, if you make steel bullets, make sure they are properly jacketed so as to prevent wear on your barrel.

If I recall correctly steel core 5.45x39 is not at all armor piercing ammo. It won't do any better than the lead core stuff. In fact the Russians had used steel core instead of lead in the 5.45 simply because it was cheaper! So it seems to me using the steel core stuff is only good for wearing out your barrel quicker.

Steel core bullets while not armor pericing will penatrate more than lead core bullets.

The different isn't enough to matter.  I would be more concerned about wearing out my barrel quicker than penetrating another inch or two.

How is steel core going to wear out your barrel quicker?

The Chinese stuff must be junk compared to the Russian stuff.

I think I have a case of the chinese steel core stuff some place. I bought it something like 10-15 years ago. If we only knew how much the prices have gone up on some of the stuff we buy as well as how much some people will pay to take it off our hands.
