the top of the carrier stays in contact with the inside top of the rear sight base.  does anyone know a good way to alleviate this problem?

I'm thinking about prying the rear sight base "upward" but, looking at it, I don't think that is possible...

The other option I see is grinding away at the inside of the sight base...

It's not "that much" friction, but it is enough that the spring can't push the carrier forward.

yes, it is a little crooked.  Didn't think about removing material from the carrier.  I can do that.
