Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Can I drill the gas tube?

I kind of like the look of the holes in the gas tubes of SA-85 and Chinese AK's.  Could I drill the holes in a Romy gas tube to get the same look, or would it cause problems?   If it's OK, could someone tell me the size of the holes and spacing length?

you could but you may have trouble cycling due to letting too much gas out.  the easiest way to try would be to get a gas tube from a chinese rifle or a milled AK with the vented tube.

Yes you can. I did it one rifle I had years ago. I just copied the pattern from another rifle and drilled. I had no problems with functioning after I did this.

Sorry the rifles are long gone, so I don't have any pictures.
