I'm refinishing my rifle myself. Problem is I can't get the rear sight off. I'm pretty sure it is removable. Any tips?
While I'm at it, I also need to refinish my AMD side folder. Is there a way to remove the rubber butt pad so I can put it in the oven?
Thanks.

I have used a C clamp to compress the spring giving enough space to remove the site.

Here's what I did.
I lifted the sight a bit (~30 degrees) to expose the front lip of the spring. I pressed down hard on that lip of the spring with a small steel pin punch. Then I was able to lower the front of the sight and pull it aft through the grooves to remove it. Piece of cake!

Thanks for the ideas. Sidecarnutz' method worked fine for my Romanian barrel, but I had to put the punch in my shop press to push it down enough to get it out of my AMD-65 Barrel.
