1- get the rivets out, if you are rivetting the thing together... press the barrel out to get to the rivets
2- install trigger guard
3- slide front trunnion in and check mag function. adjust trunnion if necessary.
4- install the front trunnion if mags function perfectly. (then install barrel if you pressed it out)
5- slide rear trunnion in the receiver and put the dustcover on.
6- final position of rear trunnion will depend on where the dustover fits with no gap at the sight block. (a gap at the sight block may result in the dustcover flying off when you shoot the thing).
7- install the rear trunnion when you are sure of dustcover fit.
8- install the bolt and carrier and check function, if it hangs up you will probably need to do some filing on the rails and/or ejector.
9- install fire control group
10- install selector switch, if it doesnt go all the way to "safe" you will have to file some off the selector where it comes in contact with the disconnector/hammer (only had this problem with Ohio ordnance receivers).
11- install furniture
12 shoot the thing
13- if all functions well, refinish the metal in a nice finish of your choice
I didnt know how you planned to assemble the rifle, this is just a generic scenerio.
If you weld it, it will only be necessary to grind down rivets flush, then the weld will grab onto remaining rivet stub.
If you screw it, you will need to tap the rivet holes with a 10/32 tap (the front trunnion rivets are a bitch to remove if you don't press the barrel out and if you press the barrel out, you might as well use rivets to put it together- requiring special jigs and a 12T press).
Measure twice and drill/cut once.
