Centerfire Systems has a couple of submachinegun parts kits that look interesting, I know it's not AK related but I wasn't sure where to ask go ahead and move this if you want....  First the German MP-34 from the pictures it looks intact whats been done to destroy the receiver?....  Also what would be the legality of glueing togethor a saw cut reciever, and assembling it as a display piece, specificly the Agentinian FMK-3 they have advertised, and does anyone have semi auto plans for eighther of those?....

www.gunco.net Those guys over there discuss this more. Basicly the SMG kits are ALL open bolt design, BATF&E has determined that a weapon that fires from an open bolt is in and of it's self a machinegun, therefor in order to make any of these into a legal semi auto you must completely redesign the FCG and bolt, not that it can't/hasn't been done, it has, but it will get spendy. You can buy a semi auto STEN kit for about $250, that's JUST THE SEMI PARTS, you still must supply the de-milled parts kit.
