Is there such a thing as a dummy receiver that would allow you to mount most of a parts kit or would that be considered an actual receiver?

Centerfire Systems sells a dummy AK receiver with accessories for about $40.

Siler's militaria sells an aluminum dummy reciever, in serveral models.  I've built a dummy on his AKMS receiever, and they're awesome.  He also makes an AKM, AK-47 and AKS-47.  I also believe he makes a Krinkov.  They come finished, ready to assemble.

One note; I paid extra for Soviet markings, but chose to refinish mine to match the parts kit i'd refinished.  After doing so, I couldn't see the markings!  I don't think i'd have the markings done on the next.

Those are on a polymer dummy reciever.  I don't know how good they're going to look.  Let me know how it looks if you get one.
