Looking at a milled-receiver (AK-47) parts-kit and wondering if the milled-receiver "stub" can be used to fashion a barrel-trunion? Modifications required by those that have done this? ....or is it easier just to remove barrel-threads on lathe, and press/pin barrel into an AKM barrel-trunion?

If turning down barrel-threads, which AKM barrel-trunion would work best? (and who has them?). What is the best "interference-fit"/press-fit for this when both parts are at room temp?

Thanks,  RichardS.

Heres a pic of a AK I built from a Hungarian milled kit - theres pics of a galil built using the same concept on www.stenparts.com and in the gallery were the AK pics are. Only thing about doing it is the metal is hard and will require carbide tooling.
