Hey fellas, here is the AMD kit that I bought from TAPCO, good finish, I think that it was a new gun when it was cut apart.  I put it together with a Arsenal 1.6mm thick reciever.  I took my time and milled down the front and rear trunions, this took quite a bit of time as the recievers are not totally square.  http://images.snapfish.com/33%3B6379523232%7Ffp64%3Dot%3E2335%3D676%3D58%3A%3DXROQDF%3E23235%3B2898832ot1lsi This is the reciever with the front and rear trunions installed for a final test fit.http://images.snapfish.com/33%3B6379523232%7Ffp64%3Dot%3E2335%3D676%3D58%3A%3DXROQDF%3E23235%3B2897563ot1lsi  This is with the mag inserted so that I was sure that the rails lined up and the bolt would strip a round out of the mag.  I wanted to make sure that everything was in the proper position  befor I drilled the rivet holes in the reciever.http://images.snapfish.com/33%3B6379523232%7Ffp64%3Dot%3E2335%3D676%3D58%3A%3DXROQDF%3E23235%3B2896984ot1lsi   Here is the front trunion with the rivets in place.  The last lower rear rivet was a bitch.   http://images.snapfish.com/33%3B6379523232%7Ffp64%3Dot%3E2335%3D676%3D58%3A%3DXROQDF%3E23235%3B289657%3Bot1lsi   Here is the rear trunion screwed in place, I chose to screw the rear because I felt that it would be much stronger that way.  Also the right side of the reciever has to be cut out to make room for the protrusion of the folding stock hinge.  http://images.snapfish.com/33%3B6379523232%7Ffp47%3Dot%3E2335%3D676%3D58%3A%3DXROQDF%3E23235%3B2898459ot1lsi   Dont forget to drill out both holes in the bottom of the reciever, or you will never get the stock out again.http://images.snapfish.com/33%3B6379523232%7Ffp64%3Dot%3E2335%3D676%3D58%3A%3DXROQDF%3E23235%3B2896784ot1lsi  FINALLY!!!  Here is the AMD with both trunions finished and in place, and the furniture attached, no fire control group yet, and will pin the stock and add barrel extention when the Gun Kote gets here.  http://images.snapfish.com/33%3B6548723232%7Ffp63%3Dot%3E2335%3D676%3D58%3A%3DXROQDF%3E23235%3B2%3A74775ot1lsi  Here is the Aimpoint installed with the K-Var mount, I shaved down the mounting rails so that I could mount it exactly where I wanted it.  I used 2 button head 10X32 screws with small aluminum spacers to get it directly over the center on the rifle.  The bolts are held in place by nylon locking nuts shaved down.  http://images.snapfish.com/33%3B6548723232%7Ffp63%3Dot%3E2335%3D676%3D58%3A%3DXROQDF%3E23235%3B2%3A74777ot1lsihttp://images.snapfish.com/33%3B6548723232%7Ffp47%3Dot%3E2335%3D676%3D58%3A%3DXROQDF%3E23235%3B2%3A74964ot1lsi  Here is the right side of the rifle.  It is a tight fit for the reciever cover/bolt/operating rod, but the optic is placed just right for me.

How did you measure for the rivet/screw holes?  I am at that step and don't want to screw it up.  Thanks

There were a few tecniques that the guys told me about, they are all listed on the thread named Reciever and trunion help.  What I elected to do was I copied the trunions and then cut them out, taped them on the reciever, then punched and drilled.  Sounds hokey, but works great.

I used a copy machine to copy the trunions and then taped themto the receiver and use a center punch to get holes right.

Can you scan that and e-mail it?  I don't feel like taking my AK upper to the local grocery store to copy it.  Might cause a scene.

Can't scan and send you a pic of the trunions, the hole locations are all different.

I have the same Tapco kit.  I need help finding the trunnion holes.  They should be the same.

They would be close enough if you don't mind egging out the holes.
But the hole  locations do vary slightly from one trunnion to another.

Do it right and use your own trunnion as a guide.

How are you going to permanently attach that barrel extension when you get it?

Looks great

Can you give us a tutorial on how you did the rivets? Pics of tools and procedures would help. I just ordered the same kit & am contemplating screw vs. rivet build.

Thanks
